The German Viktoria Rebensburg wins Garmisch-Partenkirchen women downhill. The FIS Alpine Ski World Cup goes on this weekend with women races. One week after men downhill and giant slalom, the Bavarian winter sports town holds women runs.
Kandahar races are helded in Garmisch-Partenkirchen every beginning of the year.
The famous downhill took place on Saturday, 8 February 2020. The Italian Federica Brignone was a leader for a long time, but Viktoria Rebensburg had a faster run and finished the first. Brignone kept the second place and the Czech Ester Ledecka had the third best time.
Another Italian, Sofia Goggia and the Swiss Corinne Suter, finished the fourth and the fifth, in this order.
Unfortunately, the American Mikaela Shiffrin wasn`t able to perform today due to personal issues. As a result, she lost the chance to get some new points, even to claim a victory.
However, Shiffrin keeps the first place at overall, but Federica Brignone attacks the first position with this today new great result. At downhill podium, the Swiss Suter is the first and Shiffrin the second.
The women races will go on tomorrow with the giant slalom.
