Mikaela Schiffrin won the world champion title at super-G

The American skier Mikaela Schiffrin won the world champion title at super-G, today, 5 February 2019. The Alpine Ski World Championship 2019 started today in Swedish ski resort Are.

The weather was very cold and windy. The women`s super-G was the first race devellopped at the Alpine Ski World Championship 2019.

The American superstar Mikaela Shiffrin won the first gold medal in Are. She had an excelent race and no other athlete could beat her. The Italian Sofia Goggia finished on the second place. She proved an amazing come-back after her terrible injury. After her excellent races in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Sofia Goggia managed a great race again and won the silver medal. The Swiss skier Corinne Suter arrived on the third position and won the bronze medal.

Tomorrow, men skiers will compete in the same race, the super-G.
