The Austrian Matthias Mayer wins Hahnenkamm downhill in Kitzbühel today, 25 th January 2020.
The FIS alpine ski World Cup gone on with the famous Hahnenkamm downhill on Streif slope. It is the most dangerous and the most waited race in alpine ski competitions. This year it is the 80th anniversary of Hahnenkamm races.
The weather was perfect for the race.
Matthias Mayer got a spectaculous victory today with a perfect run. He defeated his teammate Vincent Kriechmayr and the Swiss Beat Feuz. Both had the same time.
The Austrian fans enjoyed this amazing Austrian victory in Kitzbühel. The Austrian Hannes Reichelt was the last Austrian who won the downhill on Streif in 2014. Now, another Austrian is the Streif`s king.
One day before the downhill, Matthias Mayer was the second in the super-G. Today he claims the Hahnenkamm downhill title for the first time. Mayer has a great season in the FIS World Cup 2019-2020 until now. He also has a very good position at overall podium.
The famous downhill in Kitzbühel was an amazing show again. The Italian Dominik Paris was the big absent due to an injury. The former skier, the super star Aksel Lund Svindal was present to this race. Unfortunately, he didn`t win this race during his brilliant carreer. Sofia Goggia and Maria Riesch were spectators to this downhill.
Maybe FIS World Cup will organise a women race here in the future.
The Hahnenkamm races 2020 will finish tomorrow with the slalom event. The French Noel Clement won last year.
