Martin Cater wins Val d`Isère downhill in World Cup 2020-2021

The Slovenian Martin Cater wins Val d`Isère downhill in the FIS World Cup season 2020-2021. The Alpine Ski World Cup has continued in the well-known French ski resort Val d`Isère with men`s downhill. The event took place without public due to Coronavirus pandemic. The weather conditions were good for the downhill while the snowfalls in Courchevel, close to Val d`Isère, cancelled the women`s giant slalom this morning.

Cater`s win was unexpected, but he deserved this first place today. His run was the best. He claimed his first win in the FIS World Cup. The Austrian Otmar Striedinger took the second position. The Swiss Urs Kryenbuehl arrived on the third place. The Norwegian Aleksander Kilde had the fourth time. Unfortunately, no French, no German and no Italian alpine skier claimed the podium this time.

On overall men`s podium the first position belongs to the French Alexis Pinturault, followed by the young Swiss Marco Odermatt.

Next men`s alpine ski events will move in Italy for the end of this year. Val Gardena, Alta Badia, Madonna di Campiglio and Bormio are the next destinations for the world`s best alpine skiers.
