The Italian Marta Bassino wins the giant slalom in Alpine Ski World Cup race in Sölden 2020-2021 season.

The Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup starts in ski resort Sölden on Saturday, 17 October 2020. Sölden is one of the most known ski resorts in Austria. It is located in beautiful Tirol (Tyrol) state, in the western part of the country. The Tyrolean village gives the start in the Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup at middle October every year.

This new season, 2020-2021, starts in good weather conditions. The snow covered the Rettenbach glacier and there are not heavy wind or heavy fog on the first day of the competition.

The Audi FIS Alpine Ski World Cup starts with the women`s giant slalom and the best women skiers fight for the first podium in the season 2020-2021. Sadly, the race is not open for the public because of Covid-19 pandemy.

The Italian Marta Bassino won the first run and her teammate Federica Brignone arrived on the second place.

The second run finished with the same first two athletes on the podium. Marta Basino kept the first position and Federica Brignone arrived the second. The Slovakian Petra Vlhova finished the third.

The World Cup will continue tomorrow with men`s giant slalom race. The French Alexis Pinturault is the big favorite. He won here last year.

The next Alpine Ski World Cup competition will be in Lech, Austria, at middle November.
