The German Markus Eisenbichler is large hill world champion with a splendid victory today. He won the gold medal on the Bergisel ski jump in Innsbruck. He has never won a competition in the World Cup, but he became world champion with two excellents jumps.
Today`s final took place in Innsbruck because Seefeld in Tirol, the host for Nordic Ski World Championships 2019, has only a normal hill.
Markus Eisenbichler jumped more than 130 m. each time and he managed a brilliant win. He is the new large hill world champion and this is his most important result as an athlete.
The German Karl Geiger finished on the second place and got the silver medal. The Swiss Killian Peier won the bronze medal, his third place being a big surprise. Peier had the best result after the first jump, but he could not keep this position after the second jump.
Next ski jump competition at World Championships 2019 will be on Sunday, 24 February 2019. This time, Bergisel hill will held team event.
