The Luge World Championships 2021 take place in the Bavarian town Königssee between 29 and 31 January. Eisarena helds all luge runs, sprint and classic ones. Unfortunately, the competition doesn`t have spectators because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first day held sprint runs. Men`s singles, women`s singles and double men teams fights for medals. German athletes wins the most titles. In the sprint women`s singles competition, German lugers claimed entire podium. Julia Taubitz wins the gold medal, Anna Berreiter got the silver and Djana Eitberger won the bronze. The main favorite, the German Natalie Geisenberger had only the fourth time after the both runs. The men podium was in order: Nico Gleirscher (Austria), Semen Pavlichenko (Russia) and David Gleirscher (Austria). Double mens competition finished with a German winner team, Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt. They were followed by the Letonian brother Sics and the German team Eggert-Benecken.
Saturday and Sunday continue with the classic runs, women`s singles, men`s singles, double teams and relays. Double teams runs proves that German athletes are the best ones at the present. Sasha Benecken and Toni Eggert wins the gold, defeated their team mates Wendl and Arlt who got the silver. Brother Sics finished with the third time and got the bronze medals.
Women`s singles podium has a German podium again. Julia Taubitz wins a new gold medal, Natalie Geisenberger wins the silver and Dajana Eitberger takes the bronze.
Men`s singles runs has a Russian winner, Roman Repilov. The local favorite, Felix Loch has the second time while the Austrian David Gleirscher takes the bronze medal.
Team relays competition finishes with the Austrian team victory. Germany relay takes the silver medal. Letonia team gets the third place.
Luge World Cup will continue with the finals in Saint-Moritz, Switzerland. The competition will take place between 5 and 7 February 2021.
