Lara Gut-Behrami wins in Sölden, opening the Alpine Skiing World Cup 2023-2024 on 28st October 2023. The Tyrolean ski resort helds the start of the Ski World Cup every year on late October. Women and men giant slalom take place on the Rettenbach glacier.
The women race took place on Saturday. The Italian Federica Brignone won the first run, followed by the Swedish Sara Hector. The second run had an unexpected winner, the Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami. The Olympic champion had a fantastic second run and beated Brignone with 0.02 seconds on the end.. The Slovakian Petra Vlhova arrived the third.
The men competition, started on Sunday morning, was cancelled because of the heavy wind.
