German Julia Taubitz and Austrian Reinhard Egger won the single Luge World Cup event in Königssee, Germany. The artificial luge track in Königssee celebrates its 50th anniversary. The weather has been very unfriendly, with much snow and hard wind.
On Saturday 5 January 2019, the German young atlete Julia Taubitz won the single women event, followed by the American Summer Britcher and the young Austrian Hannah Prock. Taubitz had an excelent second run and finished the first place in the final, while her first run was not so fast.
On Sunday 6 January 2019, The single men competition has stopped on the middle of second run because of bad weather conditions. The second run was cancelled and the winner was the Austrian Reinhard Egger who finished on the first position after the first run. The Italian Dominik Fischnaller and the German Sebastian Bley got the second and the third position.
The team relay event is still waiting to take place in short time if the weather will allows.
