French Alexis Pinturault won the giant slalom in Soelden

The French skier Alexis Pinturault won the giant slalom that took place in Austrian ski resort, Soelden. This was the first men alpine ski competition in the season 2019-2020.

The weather was very good for the alpine ski race developped on Sunday 27 October 2019.

The French Alexis Pinturault finished the first run on the first position. The second place belonged to his team mate Mathieu Faivre. The Swiss Marco Odermatt got the third position. The Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen, maybe the biggest favorite for the victory, had a modest run.

On the second run, Pinturault proved that he deserved to win the first men alpine ski race in this Audi FIS World Cup, season 2019-2020. His colleague Faivre kept the second place and the Slovenian Zan Kranjec ended the third. Marco Odermatt lost the podium because of a big error in the second run.

The giant slalom in Soelden could take place for both competitions, women and men, after many years when races were cancelled due to bad weather.

The next alpine ski events will take place in Finnish city Levi, on weekend 23-24 November 2019.
