FIS World Cup 2019-2020 started in Tyrolean village Soelden with a huge surprise. On Saturday 26 October 2019, the new winter sports season started with the women giant slalom race.
FIS World Cup 2019-2020 started, as ussually in last many years, in the Austrian ski resort Soelden ( Sölden ). Weather conditions were almost perfect for this alpine ski competition. The glacier Rettenbach gave the right snow for the race.
After the first run, the big star Mikaela Shiffrin took the first place, the second position belonged to the very young New Zealand Alice Robinson. The race finished with a big surprise. Alice Robinson had an excelent second run and she won the first Alpine Ski race in season 2019-2020. The 17 years old athlete won for the first time in the World Cup.
Mikaela Shiffrin finished the second and the French Tessa Worley got the third position.
The FIS World Cup continues in Soelden with men giant slalom on Sunday, 27 October 2019.
