The Polish Dawid Kubacki is world champion at ski jumping normal hill in Seefeld 2019, competition that has just finished short time ago.
The weather conditions were very bad, much snowfall and heavy wind. Almost all jumps were modest and very modest. In other words, the event was not a spectaculous one like in previous days. However, few jumpers jumped more than 100 meters.
The Japan Ryoyu Kobayashi had the best jump in the first part of the competition, followed by the German Karl Geiger. The Polish Dawid Kubacki took the 27th place with his first jump.
In the second part, jumpers had, generally, shorter jumps than in the first part of the event. The snowfall influenced the competition in a bad way. The Polish Dawid Kubacki managed an unexpected win. He became the world champion at the normal hill, having the best second jump. All the other athletes ahead him after the first jump had much shorter jumps. In other words, Dawid Kubacki won the world champion title in an unexpected way.
Kubacki got the gold medal, his teammate Kamil Stoch won the silver medal and the Austrian Stefan Kraft finished the third.
Mixt team relay will fight for the world champion title on Saturday, 2 March 2019. Nordic Ski World Championships held in Seefeld will finish on Sunday 3 March 2019.
