Dresden, one of nicest German cities

Dresden is one of nicest German cities, an important political, economical, cultural and educational German and European centre.
Dresden is the capital of Saxony region. Dresden is located on the eastern part of Germany, on the river Elbe, not far from the border with Czech Republic.

Dresden is connected with German and European cities by roads, railways and air. Some city`s neighbourhood can be reached by boats on river Elbe.

Dresden has a rich history, it was a royal city, residence of Electors and Kings of Saxony. Dresden was hardly bombing during the second world war and the city center was completely destroyed. After the reconstruction, Dresden became a modern locality and a main German and European city. Due to its Baroque city center, Dresden is called Florence of the Elbe.

Main touristic sights are Dresden Castle, Zwinger Palace, Semperoper (Semper Opera House). Main churches are : Hofkirche (Dresden`s cathedral), a Catholic church and Frauenkirche (Church of our Lady), a Lutheran church. Dresden has many museums, lots of modern buildings and large gardens.

1.Pillnitz castle is a Baroque building located on the river Elbe, in the Dresden district with the same name. The castle was the residence for many Electors and Kings of Saxony

2. Blue Wonder bridge, Dresden funicular and the restaurant Luisenhof, all are situated in Loschwitz district, a residential area of Dresden.

3. Moritzburg castle, situated in the locality with the same name, is a Baroque castle build on an island. The castle is only 13 km. far from Dresden and has a large park that can be visited by foot or by a carriage with coach.
